It's spring in the UP, and we're excited to be getting back to work on our Alston Fiber Project.
Our Contractor (White Construction) will be back in the area the second week of May and will be working to complete the coversion of everyone in the Alston are to our Fas Fiber Internet Service. As part of that conversion we will be mailing all of our current customers in the Alston area a letter and a Fiber Information Form. We're using this form to gather information that the contractor needs to know about your home and property and the best way to contact you if we need to.
A copy of the letter and and example form are below. Once you've completed the form, please either return it to our office or snap a photo of it with your cell phone and e-mail it to fiber@up.net.
Baraga Telephone is in the process of upgrading customers in the Alston area to our Fast Fiber Internet Service. This is a free upgrade for everyone in Alston and comes with Internet speeds of 500 x 50 Mbps, and a free wireless router to help you connect all your devices and take full advantage of that speed. There will be no changes to your existing service pricing. No contracts or additional costs. Just faster, more reliable Internet Service for the same price.
As part of the fiber upgrade our contractor needs to install a fiber optic cable from our distribution cable along the road to your house. We want to do a good job with minimum disruption of your time and without damaging your property or other utilities. We would like to know if there is anything that the contractor should be aware of when working near your home ie: well, septic system, underground power and gas, etc. We also need to know the best way to contact you should they have any questions.
Once the fiber has been run to your house and spliced we’ll contact you to schedule a time for our technicians to come out, finish the in-home installation and activate your fiber service. This typically takes 2 – 3 hours.
We kindly ask that you fill out the attached form and return it to our office by June 11. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us for help in filling out this form. Once completed, you can drop it off at either our Baraga or L’Anse offices, mail it, or take a photo of it with your cell phone and e-mail it to fiber@up.net. Once we have your information, we’ll pass it along to our contractor so they can add your location to their list.
