Fiber Facts

Check the locations below to see updates on our fiber progress in each area.

Our outside plant personnel will contact you when it's time to install the fiber optic drop to your home. They will discuss where you'd like the service and any obstacles in your yard, etc. that we may need to be aware of. In some cases, they'll meet with the home owner and physically walk the site, etc. At that point we will call MISS DIG and have all other utilities located.

Once the fiber drop is constructed to your location, you'll be contacted to schedule your installation. Installation typically takes 2 hours, depending on the home. Technicians will install the electronics, battery (if necessary), and discuss router placement in your home for the best possible wifi coverage, run all cables, etc.

We try to make the installation as painless as possible, but some yard damage may occur. Our drop crews treat your yard as if it were their own. Any damage will be raked-out, re-leveled, etc. In most cases all you'll see when we leave is some matted grass from the tiers / tracks of our cable plows and a "rip line" which will close up after the next rain. In some cases we do need to manually dig to locate utilities, etc. Again, these areas will be raked-out and re-seeded if necessary.

Internet Only: No battery necessary.  Just a small power supply

Phone and Internet: We install a battery which will keep your telephone service (not cordless phone) working for up to 8 hours in the event of a power outage. These are both free of charge and we replace the battery when it stops performing. We also offer a larger battery that will last for up to 24 hours for an additional charge (based on the difference between the 8-hour and 24-hour battery).

"Standard Installation" is free and includes:

  • ONT
  • Battery or power supply
  • Hooking up any existing telephone jacks (if getting phone service)
  • Installation of a new router. We recommend the router be a new device to fully take advantage of the internet speeds. Our install crews will discuss router placement with the customer to get the best coverage.

We also offer access points / wifi extenders for an additional fee for the equipment. The scheduler typically will ask how big the house is, etc. when scheduling. If the techs are aware that one may be necessary or desired, they will install it for free while they are there. Standard installation involves hooking everything that's already in the home up, connecting the telephone, etc.

We do not include installation of additional telephone or ethernet jacks / cabling, but those can be performed while the techs are there for an additional fee.
